My name is Crista Miller, and this is my story.
When I was three years old, I was enrolled in the Head Start Program in Calhoun County, FL, where my mother was a volunteer parent in the classroom.
When I transitioned into kindergarten, my mother continued building her career by seeking her teaching degree, and she is currently a member of the management staff of North Florida Child Development, Inc. I remained in the program for two years before transferring to the Calhoun County Public School System. Since 9th grade, while dually enrolled at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, FL, I maintained an A/B honor roll status every year until becoming a “Bright Futures” graduate in May, 2008.
The opportunity for dual enrollment status has allowed me to work toward a degree prior to receiving my high school diploma. Upon completion of my AA degree, I plan to acquire my Masters Degree in Physical Therapy and go to work in the field.
